Student Digital Media Assistants

STAs are responsible for answering basic software questions pertaining to our digital media equipment housed in the Taylor 205, CoRE, and the Media Studio. They are responsible for maintaining the computers at the Digital Media Bar, restocking printers, etc. STAs will be expected to read and report about new technical innovations on the Educational Technology website, learn about the media creation software Educational Technology supports, explore emerging technologies, and offer workshops to help fellow students learn how to use our supported software to create media projects. STAs may be given clerical projects or data analysis and visualization projects. Exceptional STAs may be embedded in classes or departments to directly support faculty or class projects. Educational Technology has several openings for our STA position.

Sofia Abdirizak, Digital Media Assistant

Sofia Abdirizak

Sofia is part of Wooster’s Global Nomad program, calling both Springfield, VA and Nairobi, Kenya home. She’s interested in English, anthropology and film. Sofia would happily help you with Word, Powerpoint, Final Cut, and iMovie. She accepts all form of payment including, but not limited to, Marvel comics.

John (Tommy) Bacher, Digital Media Assistant

John (Tommy) Bacher

Tommy is a junior computer science major who devotes his free time to playing and designing video games. Most of his time is spent on computers in one way or another, and he has experience with a wide array of software. He loves coding, and would be very willing to help anyone interested in learning how to code as well.

Karsten Zihao Cao is a Senior Economics Major and Math Minor at The College of Wooster.

He hobbies in photography, art, music, and acting. Practically grew up fixing his parents computers.
Overall a frolicsome individual who is eager to help you out with Adobe Media and Microsoft Office related questions.

Claire Ilersich (Ill-er-sick) comes from the beautiful city of Cleveland, OH. She is an Art History and Philosophy double-major who is constantly rushing between Scovel and Ebert. When she’s not unlocking the secrets of art and the universe, she can be found working at the Digital Media Bar making bad jokes. She can help with Word, Pages, Photoshop, and more!

Samantha Lunsford, Digital Media Assistant

Samantha is from Atlanta, Georgia. She is a junior. There is a possibility that you might see her riding around campus on a giant Moto Bike. You might also find her either in Kauke or Severance. It honestly just depends on the day. When she is not anywhere else on campus, you can come visit her at the Digital Media Bar. She is there to help you all. You can catch Sam at a Comic Con near you!!

Joe MacInnes, Digital Media Assistant

Joe MacInnes

Joe is from Albion, Michigan. He is a sophomore computer science major. As president of robotics club, he has experience with micro controllers such as Arduino. Most of his time is spent at Kauke or Taylor. Joe is familiar with Pages, Microsoft Word, iMovie, Garageband, Blender, and Unity.
